New things!

Okay so it has been a good bit since Craig and I have posted on here. Things have been crazy with all the transitioning we have been attempting. I will make this as quick as possible since I still have charting to do for work, I have been working 10 and 11 hour days. It stinks. But, I am a new grad and I am learning a ton. There just feels like there are not enough hours in the day to learn and do all that I need to. I have so many great stories, some funny - some sad. If I had more energy I would share some. Here is a tid bit of one. I have a pt. with a several presure ulcers and he is also incontinent of his bladder and bowels (this is important). Anyway I was bent down measuring his pressure ulcers on his buttocks to see if they are getting smaller or bigger or what not (hopefully smaller) and it was taking me a while I was trying to decide where and how to separate the 2 ulcers with my measurements- becuase they are so close together they kind of merge and the medication that was on them was blurring the borders. So, I am concentrating ( the patient is in the side lying position) and measuring and all of a sudden he farts in my face. Instinctively I kind of scream - more like a quick "i'm startled" - "ahh" it made me jump. It was just unexpected. So then i said "sorry sir, you just startled me, I guess I was really concentrating" and so I move on to measure the other and he farts again, in my face. and I jumped again this time in silence but it took everything in not to burst into laughter. I held it together and then I left the room and laughed so hard I cried. Throughout the whole thing the patient didn't say one thing- I don't think he knew he did it. I had to laugh about it otherwise I may have been too grossed out- but I keep thinking "I went to school for how long, for this?" but I do enjoy what I do, it is just not a glamorous job by any means. Craig is loving his job at the outdoor store "The Backpacker" and is trying to get all his stuff together for graduate shool. Our house is coming together nicely but there is still a lot to do. Sorry this is short and random. Oh, read my comment on Judy's post about Christmas, it is about Mardi Gras and I am inviting all of you to come down to visit. Love you all!
